So I stopped at our local GameStop yesterday to ask a question about pre-ordering Swap Force Dark Edition.
Here are my questions with the employees responses:

1. If I order online can I pick it up here on 10/13? - No
2. Can I pre-order in the store with you today? -Yes, which system?
3. Will there be a midnight launch? - Maybe, we haven't heard.
4. If I can't make it in on Sunday 10/13, can I come the next day and still pick it up? - Yes, you have a month to pick it up.

Then he offered this bit of marketing, "Come back next month as we will have some variants."

With so many sources sharing Swap Force character updates recently I thought is would attempt to pull them together in something I am familiar with.

On the Skylanders Giants website there is a poster page that can be downloaded. It is very similar to the poster that comes in the starter pack.

There have been some character names revealed (Dune Bug, Wind Up, Scratch etc.) but no certain element associated. If you have any more info on these please share and I will update the poster mock up below. The lightcore characters are glowing copies of themselves to appear different than the non-lightcore versions. If I am missing an image please share a link to it.

Another update is already planned because of the small black and white logo I started putting on the Life and Air elements.

This is also a very low resolution image. If there is interest in making it larger I will take the time to do it.

We went Skylander Hunting: Part ?

We go Skylander Hunting at least once a week, much to the dislike of WSM (Wannabe Skylander Mom). We are so close to getting a complete set so we keep looking. In recent months there hasn't been much selection but everyonce in a while we find a small treasure. Please now with all the chase variants (Purple Eye Brawl, Purple Wrecking Ball, Purple Lightening Rod, Pumpkin Eye Brawl {not out yet?}, Wicked Thumpback {what is this?}, Dark Green Gill Grunt and don't forget the one we really are looking forward to... Punch Pop Fizz.) Oh, man taking him out of the 3DS starter pack makes sense since they did it with Gnarly Tree Rex. He sounds to be the most obtainable like a Walmart walk in... I am going to try tonight on the way home from work. The video below is a teaser for the full length feature something. This is the best I could do from my iPhone, at work, in a meeting.
So we will work on the numbering of our hunting videos. I guess we can make it up at.

Skylanders Giants LightCore - The good old days

Ran across this old ad today on YouTube. Ahhh... The good old days. Ha, back when LightCore was new and cool. But at least they chose Prism Break because he has the best LightCore effect according to the voting at our house. Drobot got voted the worst LightCore. It looks like he will stay at the bottom of the list unless Light Core Hex is extremely pathetic.
Which is your favorite LightCore? Which is the worst? Do you have a favorite one coming in Skylanders Swap Force?

[Updated] GameStop Announces Exclusive Skylanders Swap Force Dark Edition Starter Pack

Game Stop Exclusive. The reveal hasn't been officially put on the Facebook page but Game Stop let the cat or Skylanders out of the bag... or Kaos's lair.

This has to be mistake

Browsing the preorder pages of the various retailers I noticed something on the Walmart site and thought this has to be a mistake. I am glad I didn't preorder from Walmart. I don't think we could wait that long for these Skylanders. "Preorder this item today and it should ship on 12/31/13."

Currently Walmart is the best place around here to find any type of Skylander. The Target nearest us has had zero new shipments in the last two months. I took them off my Skylander hunting route. As the kids would say, "Fail, Target"

And this is a fail for Wally World. 

Swap Force Secrets... Dark Secrets

Two days ago the @SkylandersGame twitter account posted a picture with 10 eyes and these words, "We've got a Dark Secret..."

The wannabe Skylander kids (WSK) have already seen Dark Ninja Stealth Elf so it wasn't too hard for them to guess that the teaser image was for "dark" version of other characters. The question for them was WHO? Now I, wannabe Skylander Dad, have access to more resources and found some interesting work by other fans that solved the mystery very fast and easily.

So I showed the annimated GIF created by dark52 and posted to darkSpyro.net to the WSKs and they nearly jumped through the ceiling. They are so excited for more Skylander variants. Nice Work dark52!

Well then today they posted the image below. Could it be a hint of something to come. Of course! He looks very Pirates/Black Pearl-esk.

New Eye Brawl Variant?! Pumpkin Eye Brawl

While looking for Purple Eye Brawl, I came across a question that asked if Purple Eye Brawl was the same as Pumpkin Eye Brawl. That doesn't sound the same but it intrigued me enough to do some searching... Sears has this currently listed on their site:

Could it be another variant. Check out the release date - Sept 3. I guess someone could order it then return it if it isn't what they are expecting. Here are some ideas....  

All Orange like the Purple variant.

Orange with a stem. But that would probably break off.

Pumpkin... No Jack-o-lantern Eye Brawl.
